 Who is responsible for witnessing and spreading the Gospel?

Most people understand that each believer should share the gospel but unfortunately, many people assume that witnessing is the sole responsibility of the pastor to accomplish this task. This assumption is incorrect. The bible states that every believer is responsible for witnessing and sharing their faith. The following scriptures explain that every believer is responsible for sharing the Gospel with others (Witnessing):

John 15:8 states -

"My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples".

The only way to bear fruit is to share your faith with the intent of bringing others to know Christ.

Matthew 28:18-20 Commands -

18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

This passage commands all believers to go into the world and make disciples. This requires the believer to share their faith with others that are not disciples.

Acts 1:8 - States: " but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

This passage proclaims an eternal truth that all believers will be filled with the Holy Spirit and that the result of a Spirit filled life will be a witness of Christ and a witness to Christ.

 How can a person become a faithful witness of God?

1. Pray and ask God to give you the understanding of what you are to be.

2. Pray and ask God to give you the boldness to become what He intends you to be.

3. Pray and ask God to help you realize the opportunities that He gives you to witness.

4. Study witnessing tools that are provided by your church. These tools will include a witness plan that uses scripture and teaches principles for handling different types of encounters. Some witnessing training tools include:

    * Share Jesus Without Fear

    * Learning to Share Your Faith

    * The Net

    * Continuing Witnessing Training (CWT)

    * Evangelism Explosion (EE)
