Why am I a pastor? Why do I do what I do? Because of the call. I also cannot entertain a simple dash between two dates defining my life. I want to know that I stepped out of the boat and walked on water, even if I sank. I want to know that I did not settle for what was safe. I want to know that I went beyond the norm and stepped into the “Jesus” part of my life. The part that brings light into the room. The part that points the way for the lost. The part that brings healing to the weary. The part that brings families together. The part that tells another person that they are incredibly important no matter what life has thrown at them. I have experienced a lot of amazing things in life but nothing compares to baptizing an entire family on Easter Sunday. That one goes between the dates instead of the dash. Helping Lida Douglas while she slowly left this world to be with Jesus: That one definitely goes between the dates. Seeing people "become" and seeing people rise up out of the stale part of life that creates the simple dash between the dates....... that one also goes between the dates.

What about you?   Why are you doing what you are doing?

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
